Spot Drilling

Spot drilling is a drilling operation that creates a small, shallow hole at a specific location on a workpiece, usually to serve as a guide for a subsequent drilling operation. The purpose of spot drilling is to create a small indentation or “spot” that will help ensure that the drill bit does not wander or slip when it is subsequently fed into the workpiece.
